This is a cut from one of my pets pages that I thought would be useful here. One Player Opponents and Abilities are on a separate page already, so they have been removed from this page.
WHAT IS THE BATTLEDOME?
It's a game where your pet fights another users pet or a one player challenger. When one of the fighters reaches zero hp, the match is over and the other fighter has won. You must have items equipped to your pet or have abilities to be able to do damage to your opponent. Each round of the game, you can use one ability and up to two of the items your pet is equipped with. This is what it looks like during a fight:
At the top of the picture you can see a number 1 that I've added. By the side of that are the HP you and your opponent have. During the fight, you are aiming to reduce your opponents HP to zero before they do the same to you. First one to manage that is the winner. Just below the HP is your Power. Each time you use a faerie ability, your power is reduced. When it gets to 0%, you cannot use faerie abilities in that fight any more.
Number 2 is beside your equipment. To use an item in a round, click on it so that it is highlighted. You can use up to 2 items per round.
Number 3 is beside a drop down menu where you can select a type of attack, a faerie ability or defend to use during that round.
Once you have selected your items and any attack/ability you want to use, click the 'Go' button by the side of the drop down menu. This will make your move. In a one player battle, you will see the result of the move straight away, along with the results of your opponents attack. In a battle against another user, there may be a delay while they make their move. The result page will look the same as this picture, except it will also have a breakdown of the damage done. If no one has won, this continues until one of the fighters is down to zero HP.
BATTLEDOME AND RELATED LINKS AND INFORMATION
- BattleDome: Where the fun happens! To do well in the dome, you need to aim for decent weapons and a well trained pet.
- Neopets Battlepedia: This is the official Neopets Battlepedia, where you can find details of a lot of items to equip your pet with. However, I prefer the pinkpoogletoy.com battlepedia (see below) as this also shows how much damage or defence an item can do.
- BattleDome FAQ This is the Neopets page for all the FAQ. (Some of the answers are also here).
- Hidden Tower: This is one of the places where you can buy some very nice items to equip your pet with. You'll need a lot of nps before you can do that tho! If you want to find the Hidden Tower yourself, go to Faerieland and go to the FaerieCity. At the back of the FaerieCity picture is a purple castle, run your mouse over the left hand side of the castle until it changes to indicate a link and there it is!
- Smugglers Cove: This is the other place where special items are sold. You will need to pay in dubloons and again, you'll need a lot of them lol!
- Healing Springs: Go here when you lose to restore your pets health.
- Secret Laboratory: To gain access to the lab, you will need to collect all 9 pieces of the map, have them in your inventory and go here: Treasure Maps. Once you have completed the map, you do not keep the map pieces, but now have access to the lab ray once a day. This can be used to increase your pets statistics. However it can also change your pets species and gender and reduce statistics as well. It is thought that overall it will do more good than bad.
- Mystery Island Training School You can train your pet here by paying for courses in codestones.
- Krawk Island Academy You can train your pet here by paying for courses in dubloons. Courses here take longer but dubloons are cheaper than codestones at the moment.
- Coltzans Shrine: This isn't a quick or reliable way to train your pet, but it can increase your pets statistics. You can go to the shrine once every 12 hours.
- Uber Faerie Quests: These are given as random events, but are worth doing when you get them, as most increase your pets statistics (except the Earth Faerie (which aren't worth doing) and the Fountain Faerie). This is what you get as a reward for completing the quest:
Water Faerie ~ plus 2 Defense
Fire Faerie ~ plus 2 Strength
Light Faerie ~ plus 1 Level
Dark Faerie ~ plus 2 hp
Air Faerie ~ plus 2 Movement
Faerie Queen ~ plus 1 Level, plus 3 hp, plus 3 Strength
Fountain Faerie ~ doesn't give you a stats boost, but it does give you access to the Rainbow Fountain to paint your pet.
Space Faerie ~ plus 4 Level, unconfirmed report, neomail over18laughs if you find out please.
If you refuse a quest, remember to return to the quest page after the 599 seconds time limit so that you can start receiving them again.
- Kitchen Quests: These quests can increase your pets stats sometimes. They can get pricey, and I only do the ones that cost less than about 2500nps. There is no penalty for not doing these quests.
- Turmaculus: If your pet has a petpet, it can be useful in the Battledome if it has an increased level. A level 2 petpet will multiply the damage your attack does by 2, a level 3 petpet by 3 and so on. Once a petpet has an increased level, don't remove it from your pet or this will be lost. The Turmaculus can only be woken once a day at a random time, so keep an eye on the chat and message boards to see when others have been successful. There is a risk that your petpet will get eaten by him, so wake him nicely and with your fingers crossed!
- The Petpet Battledome will also increase petpet levels when you have 10 points.
- Defenders of Neopia: This is one of the Neopets games. You can complete the quests and gain a trophy for your user lookup. To complete the quests, you need to find and fight various opponents in the BattleDome. The opponents and where to find them are listed under the 'one player opponents' section of this guide.
WHERE TO FIND OTHER USERS TO BATTLE
- You will sometimes get challenges out of the blue from other users, Make sure to have a look at their pets statistics, their user lookup and their other pets statistics to se if you think it will be a fair fight. It's no fun accepting a challenge only to find you are completely mismatched and they are using you to bump up their battledome score.
- BattleDome Chat often has people looking to fight
- You can target pets. This is a way of searching for pets that have been using the dome recently.
- Quick Fight is another way to find opponents.
FAQ
- DEFENCE AND ATTACK STATISTICS: The higher these are the better your pet will do in the BattleDome. Increases in Attack strength cease to have any effect after 700. Increases in Defence strength cease to have effect after 150.
- MOVEMENT (AGILITY) STATISTICS: These do nothing to improve your pets peformance in the Battledome.
- BESERK ATTACK: You get this when your pet reaches Level 50.
- WEAPONS: Deciding what weapons to get isn't easy. They can be expensive, so you need to work out how much you want to spend. Talk to people in the guild, or in the Neopets Battledome Chat and see what they like. It's worth having a look at their pet statistics and Battledome scores and decide if they look as if they know what they are talking about. Whilst people you know will probably give you genuine advice, strangers may not always. Be wary of someone saying 'this is great and I just happen to have one to sell' ~ they may not have your best interests at heart lol. Compare this advice to the suggested weapons and species weapons in pinkpoogletoys battlepedia (link below). The pinkpoogletoy battlepedia give more information than the Neopets Battlepedia, as it gives a full weapons list and also tells you how much damage an item can do. It's difficult to suggest 'the best' weapons as there are so many. The best advice is to look around to see what others like and aim for items that do as much damage as you can afford. Try a few things out to see what you like ~ as long as they aren't single use, you can always sell them if you don't like them.
- WEAPONS/ABILITIES THAT MAKE ITEMS WITHIN THE DOME: Some weapons and abilities make items within the Battledome (e.g: Snowballs Wands or the negg ability). You do not get to keep these items once the battle is over.
- ONCE PER BATTLE ITEMS: When you use a 'once per battle item' it will disappear from the items available for use for the remainder of the battle (e.g blue scorchstone, hypno helmet). You do not lose it altogether.
- SINGLE USE ITEMS: These can only be used once only. They are not the same as 'once per battle' items.
- TYRANNIAN ARMY STATISTICS: These are obtained from random events in Tyrannia. They were recently wiped from user lookups, but you can still receive them and ones received since they were wiped are showing on user lookups. I don't know why they were wiped or what purpose they will serve in the future.
- HOW TO EQUIP YOUR PET:You equip items by clicking on it in your inventory and selecting the 'equip your pets name' option. If you want to unequip an item, you do this here. It will then be returned to your inventory.
WHERE TO GO FOR DETAILED BATTLEDOME HELP If you need any information about battling, I think that the best place to go to is pinkpoogletoys battlepedia: ![Battledome Battlepedia](http://pinkpt.com/idb/88x31.jpg) Have a look at their suggested weapons, species weapons and the section on faerie abilities. A recent addition to this site are the ratings. Have a look to see what other players think of an item to help you make your mind up. You will gain all the information you need to do well in the BattleDome there.
