Neohome Guide submitted by coffcat |
What's that I hear? You're tired of listening to your pets complain night and day about how everyone else's pets have beautiful Neohomes to live in while they have to sleep in the dirt? Well, lets see what we can do to help you out! First off, let me say that Neohomes are (currently) for decorative purposes only. Neopets has stated that your pets will be able to interact with them at some point in the future. But at this time building a Neohome is only for viewing purposes only. Building a neohome can be very expensive, so I would caution you to only start on it when your in a comfortable position neopoint wise. ok! So lets get started!! The best way to start with your neohome is to get an idea of what you want it to look like when it's finished. Think of a graph thats 5 squares by 5 squares. This is what your lot will be shaped like. Draw this graph on a piece of paper and play with some designs. Be creative! The whole thing doesn't have to be rooms, you have gardens to design too, so don't forget those! Remember you have three floors that you can play with, you can only build rooms on the second and third floor that have supporting rooms underneath just like a real building. So you've got a great layout of a house now...let's get started on the real fun then! First go to the button called Neohome located in the Pet Central page. You will need to pick a place that you want your house to reside. You have 8 locations to choose from:
Neopia Central: 1,000nps Go to the section titled Neighborhood and pick the location you want. Your application will be sent to the Neopian Planning Committee. Applications are not approved immediately, it can take up to two days for your building to be processed. You can always check your status by clicking on the building status link. Once you have been approved a neomail will be sent to you saying that your application has been approved. Now you can start building on your new property! To start building a room, go to the Add/Remove Rooms or Gardens section. There it will show your lot. Pick the first square that you want to start building in, select the type of room or garden you want and click the start building. Don't forget to select where you want your doors placed, you cannot go back later and add doors, you will have to demolish the room and rebuild it otherwise. You can check your rooms progress by going to the Building Status link. Here are the types of rooms you can build:
Cardboard: 150nps Garden: 100nps For each room or garden that you start building you will be given a time frame that it will be finished in. Honestly, you can't really go by it because sometimes the room is finished faster and sometimes it can take a lot longer. One time I was given the time frame of 6 hours and it really took over 11. This will have to be done for each room, so remember this if you are planning a very large Neohome!! Once you have build your first room, you will be able to start adding all of the neat furniture and items you've collected. But first you have to name your rooms! (makes it easier later on to add your furniture) Go to the Add/Remove rooms or Gardens section and click on your build room, a pop up window will come up and on it will be a space that you can enter the room name. As soon as you've named your rooms click update room. Go to your items and click on the object that you want placed in your room, the pop up window will give you a list of the rooms that you can place it in, just select the room you want and PRESTO you items will magically appear. Easy huh? To arrange the furniture in your rooms, just go to the View Rooms or Gardens section and select the room you want to work in. A close-up of the room will appear with all of your items you have added all piled up in the upper left hand corner. Start dragging your furniture out into your room. There's two (sometimes three) options with your items. The options will appear as you drag your mouse along the corner of your item. All objects have a rotate feature (shown as twirling arrows) and a lock feature (shown as a padlock) Once you have placed the item where you want it, click the lock button and the item will be locked in place. If you decide you want to move it, just click the padlock button again and it will unlock making it possible for you to move the item around again. Some items have a third selection (shown as a letter A) this is for items that have an action associated with it. Lamps and speakers have this option, letting you pick whether or not they're turned on or off. For items that you want placed On Top of another object, like a lamp. table or a pillow, select the item that you want on top and click the plus button on your key pad. Drag the object over to the furniture that you want it placed on top of. This action can be a little tricky sometimes. The furniture can be stubborn sometimes and you might have to do it more than once. If it just will not go, select the object that you cannot place the item on top of and click the minus button on your keyboard. Then go back to the top object (ie. lamp) and click the plus button again. This takes several tries sometimes to get it right. Once you have everything placed where you want it. Let your mouse hover in the upper left hand corner. A drop down menu will appear that says Save, Reset, and Info. Click Save and your room will be saved. Occasionally your furniture will rearrange itself. You may have to reset it again and if it will not accept it in that position, try maneuvering them around a little until it does. Don't forget to save your room when you are finished or you will have to start all over again! For gardens the arranging methods are slightly different, but a lot easier than rooms. Your plants will originally all be placed in the upper left corner. For garden items you have two choices. Move (arrows) and Flip (circle arrow). Once you have your garden items placed where you like them you can hover your mouse in the lower left hand corner of the screen where the white arrow is. A menu will appear and all you need to do is click save. You can also adjust the color saturation of your garden by clicking the plus or minus buttons in the same menu. Just remember to click save when you are finished or you'll have to redo the whole garden! The final thing that you can do to your home is add extensions. At this point extensions don't do anything (they might in the future though). Extensions are only offered once you reach a certain amount of rooms. Each extension will add cost to building any future rooms. For every level that you go up, more neopoints will be added to the bill. Here is a list of the extensions you can add, (they will not effect the view of your neohome in any way).
Type: Carpet
Type: Lighting
Type: Wallpaper
Type: Security
Type: Central Heating
Type: Insurance Basically, that's all there is to it. Happy Neohome Building!!
