Terror Mountain

orignally submitted by neomomrenee

Terror Mountain consists of three separate areas. When you go to the Explore map and click on Terror Mountain, you go to:

Happy Valley

Most of the activities here relate to Christmas time, such as the Advent Calendar and Gift Tags. The main thing you need to know about Happy Valley is that it contains links to go to the Ice Caves and the Mountain Top.

Mountain Top

Otherwise known as the Mountain Top, Terror Mountain contains the following important areas:

Igloo Garage Sale (see tip below)

Snow Quests (see tip below)

The Ice Caves

The Ice Caves contains the following:

The Snowager: The Snowager is asleep during these times ~ All Neopian Standard Time (NST) 6:00 - 7:00am, 2:00 - 3:00pm and 10:00 - 11:00pm) (see tip below)

The Neggery (see tips below)

The Scratchcard Kiosk: (can be visited every 6 hours). There are 5 types of cards you can get. Each costs 600np and are given randomly. Personally I scratch the the Race to Riches and Terror Trove cards and sell the Faeries Fortune, Peak O Plenty and Icetravaganza ones. The Kiosk Wocky pops out for breakfast between 9 - 10am NST and lunch between 12 - 1pm NST (see the full tip on the Games pages).

This pre-dates me but you can also find the secret entrance to Tyrannia in the Ice Caves by clicking on the crack in the ice. I've been told this was how Tyrannia was accessed when it was new before it was put onto the world map. It takes you here.

Igloo Shopping Tips

submitted by neomomrenee

The Igloo Garage Sale is THE place to get random bargains. The Igloo sells anything that's available in the regular shops at half price. The downside is that you're limited to one purchase every few minutes.

First, know your prices. Just because it's in the Igloo doesn't mean it's cheap. For example, I've seen petpets worth 1,000NP in the Igloo for 10,000NP or more. So be careful and don't buy it just because it's there.

Second, know when to go there. The Igloo restocks approximately 60 - 90 seconds after the main shops. If you see anything in the food shop, which empties out very quickly, go to the igloo and wait.

Third, learn how to use "Refresh." Go to the Igloo's item page. It will very likely be empty. (Oops! - We just ran out of items. Mika - go up to the attic and fetch lots more down! They are going like crazy!) If you think the Igloo is about to restock, hit refresh. If you have Internet Explorer, F5 is the same as clicking on Refresh with your mouse. Depending on the speed of your connection, you may be able to refresh every couple of seconds until the items show up.

Fourth, learn the "spacebar technique" (courtesy of member jstjhn). This only works when the Neopets site itself is running rather slow (a peak usage time, for example). When you see something you want in the Igloo, use your right hand to click on it. IMMEDIATELY use your left hand to hit the space bar, which is the same as hitting "enter" on the "do you want to purchase?" box. IMMEDIATELY click on the item again, and hit spacebar again. It will take a few tries to get the rhythm right, but when you've got it, you just may get lucky and buy two or even three of a super-duper bargain, thereby getting around the "one item purchase" restriction.

Good luck and happy shopping!

Snow Faerie Quests

submitted by neomomrenee

Go to the Snow Faerie if you want to ask for a quest. She will ask you for two or three items. You have a limited amount of time to find them and bring them to her. You can acquire them in any way, including using the shop wizard.

Her quests are usually for fairly expensive items, so be careful. I would recommend passing on her quest if the items would cost you more than 1,000 - 2,000 NP. If you fail to complete her quest, the Snow Faerie will say she's mad at you but nothing bad will happen.

Snowager Tips

submitted by neomomrenee

If you go to the Snowager when he is sleeping, you just may be able to snag a piece of treasure. Don't bother going there when he is awake!

You may have better luck with the Snowager if you try the following: (no guarantees!)

- Go "empty handed" (i.e. without much cash or many costly items in your possession)

- Don't go every time. Snowie seems to be a bit more "generous" if you haven't visited lately.

The Snowager currently sleeps every day:

6-7 AM, 2-3 PM, and 10-11 PM

(Neopian Standard Time)

Neopian Time is equal to Pacific (California) time since Neopets headquarters is located in California.

Negg Shopping

submitted by ktknievel

The easiest (and cheapest!) way to get Neggs is at the Food Shop. They sell all the base color neggs (purple, brown, orange, etc.) and ice neggs. If you enter the store at restock time, keep reloading (or go back to the previous page and re-enter). At least 3 times an hour, they put neggs in the store. Brown neggs are the most plentiful. There are normally at least 25 available.
