WEAPONS
Ok, now we can get to everyone’s favorite topic: weapons. Buying the wrong weapons can ruin any battledomers fun, so here's a guide to what types of weapons that are available, what they can do and which weapons are the best for what you can afford.
Weapon Use
Basically there are five weapon types. Some may have a combination of two different traits, but fortunately not many do. These traits are, multiple use, single use, once per battle, semi breakable, and breakable.
Multiple Use: weapon can be used over and over in every round of the battle.
Single Use: weapon can only be used once. After you use it, it disappears from your inventory.
Once Per Battle: weapon can only be used once during the battle, but remains in your inventory until you fight again. It will disappear from your choices during the battle, but don't worry, it's still there.
Semi Breakable: weapon can be used like a multiple use weapon, but may “semi-break” in the middle of the battle thus removing it from game play. Weapon will still be in your inventory when the battle is over.
Breakable: weapon can break after use, thus disappearing forever.
Limited: some weapons when equipped will block other similar types of weapons from being equipped. Healing items are typical in this trait.
Notes:
If you want dependable weapons, go for the unbreakable weapons. If you're using these you don't have to worry about them disappearing and leaving you in the middle of a battle with no weapons.
If you're using breakable or semi breakable weapons, always remember to have a back up weapon or weapons to get you through the rest of the battle.
Multiple use weapons usually always cost more than single use weapons. Weigh you options before purchasing single use weapons. They can be cheap, but will be gone once you use them. These weapons are good for beginners since there's not a lot of money invested and helps you get a feel of what battling is like.
Weapon Functions
The choices of weapons in neopia supply a variety of functions. These functions are attack, defend, freeze, drain, heal, reflect, give, changes weapon, and changes stats. Some weapons can do more than one function.
Attack: damage that you do to your opponent.
Defend: damage that you block from your opponent.
Freeze: stop your opponent from doing anything for one round, you are free to attack without taking any damage.
Drain: allows you to drain your opponent’s hitpoints and give them to your pet. This affect only lasts for the battles duration, your pet will not lose (or gain) these points permanently.
Heal: restores hitpoints.
Reflect: reflect back damage that your opponent attacks with.
Give: will give you either a weapon, item, steal an opponents weapon, or give you your opponents weapon information.
Changes weapon: will change your opponents weapon.
Changes stats: removes semipermanently or permanently opponents stats.
Notes
Remember to plan your weapons before battling. Keeping a good balance between attack, defense and effects is always a good way to win.
Weapons that attack and defend are good weapons to invest in. They provide a two for one deal that other weapons don't provide.
Research! Research! Research! Keep in touch with what other weapons are popular. Then you have a good idea of what people may be using and you can plan ahead. Sometimes weapons can be upgraded or downgraded. Don't find out in the middle of a battle that your weapon that used to do 9 icons of damage now only does 5 constant 4 random icons.
Suggested Weapons
These weapon recommendations are divided into three sections. The first will list weapons that can be used by any pet. The second will list species weapons (those that can only be used by certain species of pets) that are worth investing in. The third will list all potions, elixirs and snowballs and their statistics.
Notes:
This isn't a checklist for weapons that you have to have or are necessarily the best. These are just weapons that are affordable and have good effects.
There are many weapons that have similar stats, shop around and find the one that's affordable for you.
One good point to remember is to always have 2 good attack weapons, at least 1 good defense weapon, a healing weapon (if you can afford one) and maybe a couple of emergency items such as snowballs and elixirs.
Having the most expensive weapons does not mean that you automatically have the best weapons out there. Prices aren't affected solely on how good they are but also how available they are to the players.

Species Weapons
Species weapons are different than regular weapons in that only pets of a specific type can use them. Some pet species have really great weapons, some don't. I will list the pets that have good weapons and the weapons that are available to them. If a specie isn't listed, it doesn't have any good weapons and you would be better off getting regular weapons.
